Teradata makes a software product called Teradata Marketing Studio (TMS) that large companies use to manage their marketing resources. They wants to redesign an interface for marketers to use for uploading, searching and downloading assets for their marketing projects. These assets include graphics, slide decks, videos and documents that are used in marketing campaigns. A big part of this process is how users actually upload the assets they create. In this project, our team's priority was to design the interface of uploading assets for target users.
From four major aspects of digital assets (security, versions, renditions, extended attributes) to be considered, we decided to focus on renditions first for this one-week design job. We quickly intentified three facts about managing renditions through online research, namely uploading them piece by piece is a tedious job, descriptions are important for renditions and writing
descriptions for each one is time-consuming, and many users create, organize and manage renditions locally in their machine. Thus our aim became reducing the uploading efforts by providing a seamless upload mechanism and minimize the manual entries.
Rapid decision making, paper prototyping and usability testing enhanced our confidence of our pace. Gradually ideas such as offline management, using desktop client and taking advantage of tags came together to form our solution. Interactive prototype were finally made by using Axure and a flow diagram were drawn to present the entire user experience.
